Mr. Takao Makino, Parliamentary Secretary of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, visits Lebanon
From January 16th to 17th, Mr. Takao Makino, Parliamentary Secretary of the Minister for Foreign Affairs visited Lebanon. Parliamentary Secretary Makino met with President Michel Suleiman, Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs Wafiq Mohammad Rahmieh, and MP Yassine Jaber (Chairperson of the Japan-Lebanon Friendship Parliamentarian’s Union). In a series of meetings, productive dialogues were held on the bilateral relations between Japan and Lebanon, which commemorates the 60th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations this year, as well as the recent developments in the region. Mr. Makino announced an additional assistance of US$120,000,000 in relation to the issues of Syrian refugees.
