Conferment Ceremony of a Japanese Decoration upon Mr. Tarek Abdelmalak, Former Political Advisor to the Embassy of Japan in Lebanon

On 29 September 2026, Ambassador YOKOTA Kenji conferred The Order of the Sacred Treasure, Silver Rays upon Mr. Tarek Abdelmalak, former Political Advisor to the Embassy of Japan in Lebanon.
The decoration was awarded in recognition of Mr. Abdelmalak’s nearly 24 years of distinguished service and sincere dedication to the Embassy of Japan. The conferment ceremony was held at the Ambassador’s Residence in the presence of Mr. Abdelmalak’s family member and former colleagues.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Yokota expressed his deep appreciation for Mr. Abdelmalak’s professionalism, commitment and unwavering dedication throughout his service. The Ambassador highlighted Mr. Abdelmalak’s invaluable contributions to the Embassy’s work, particularly his role in strengthening the Embassy’s institutional capacity and helping to build the strong foundation upon which the Embassy stands today. He also noted that his duties with diligence, integrity and dedication despite the many challenges Lebanon has faced over the years.
In his remarks, Mr. Abdelmalak stated that receiving this decoration was a profound honour and privilege. Reflecting on his tenure at the Embassy of Japan, he noted that his guiding mission had always been to provide accurate and reliable information to his superiors and colleagues, and to ensure that his reports and analyses contributed meaningfully to the Embassy’s work.
