Director-General Keiichi IWAMOTO Visits the National Museum of Beirut

On 4 August, Mr. IWAMOTO Keiichi, Assistant Minister and Director-General for the Middle East and Africa Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Ambassador Yokota visited the National Museum of Beirut.
The delegation toured the Museum's collection, tracing Lebanon's rich history as a crossroads of civilizations and exchanging views on the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
Japan has long supported cultural cooperation with Lebanon, including through the provision of audio-visual equipment to the National Museum of Beirut under its Cultural Grant Aid programme.
The visit offered an opportunity to reflect on Lebanon's remarkable historical legacy and its enduring role as a meeting point of cultures. As Lebanon stands at a new juncture in its history, Japan remains committed to working with the international community to support the country's sustainable recovery, growth and a peaceful future.
