Japan Expands Emergency Assistance to Lebanon, Bringing Recent Support to USD 16.4 Million

On 26 June 2026, the Government of Japan decided to provide USD 4 million in emergency grant aid in response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Lebanon. This emergency grant will be channeled through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the World Food Programme (WFP), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to support the delivery of emergency humanitarian assistance and the continuation of essential services for those most severely affected by the ongoing crisis.
Prior to this contribution, the Government of Japan has also been supporting, through the Japan Platform, emergency food and non-food items (NFIs) distribution activities carried out by three Japanese NGOs — CCP, AAR Japan, and PARCIC — commencing in March 2026. With this latest contribution, Japan's total assistance to Lebanon this year reaches USD 16.4 million. This reaffirms Japan's unwavering commitment to addressing the multifaceted crisis, supporting recovery, advancing human security, and strengthening the resilience of Lebanese society.

• World Food Programme (WFP): Food [USD 1 million]
• International Organization for Migration (IOM): Site management, shelter, and non-food items [USD 1 million]
• United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF): Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) [USD 0.5 million]
