Japan Supports Leadership and Human Security through LEAP

On 6 February, 2026, Ambassador Kenji Yokota attended the graduation ceremony of UNRWA’s Leadership Excellence and Accountability Programme (LEAP), celebrating the achievements of its graduates.
The LEAP initiative, funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by UNRWA, reflects Japan’s enduring commitment to human security, good governance, and the Women, Peace and Security agenda. Through this programme, Japan invests in developing leadership and management capacity to ensure that aid reaches the communities and people who need it most.
Ambassador Yokota extended Japan’s warm congratulations to the graduates, praising their dedication while working under exceptionally challenging conditions. He emphasized that excellence in leadership is key to transforming resources into tangible impact for the people. The Ambassador also reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting people in Lebanon, particularly those in vulnerable situations, through effective and accountable cooperation with UNRWA.
