On December 4, 2025, the Government of Japan and UNRWA inaugurated a solar power system at the Siblin Training Center, marking the completion of a major renewable energy initiative for Palestine refugees in Lebanon.

Funded by Japan and implemented by UNRWA, the project introduces clean and reliable solar energy to essential services, including health centers, water wells, and educational and training facilities, helping to ensure uninterrupted services despite Lebanon’s ongoing energy challenges.

During the ceremony, the Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, Magoshi Masayuki highlighted that the project reflects a key pillar of Japan’s foreign policy, the principle of human security. He emphasized that providing stable, sustainable energy strengthens community resilience while equipping youth with the skills they need to build better futures. He also noted that this initiative helps reduce operational costs for UNRWA, allowing the Agency to redirect valuable resources toward programmes that directly benefit Palestine refugees. Japan reaffirmed its commitment to supporting UNRWA and advancing dignity, stability, and opportunity for all in line with the human security approach.
