Ambassador Magoshi Attended the 25th Anniversary of UNSCR 1325, Highlighting Japan’s 2025 WPS FPN Co-chairmanship

On November 27, Ambassador Magoshi attended an event organized by UN Women, in partnership with the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW), to commemorate the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS). The commemoration highlighted ongoing efforts to advance the WPS agenda and explored ways to strengthen implementation at the global level.
Japan serving as co-chair of the 2025 WPS Focal Points Network, along with Norway, has been working with participating countries and organizations under the theme “Deepening WPS Commitment for Action,” to turn commitments into practical progress, with the support of UN Women as a secretariat.
At the event, Ambassador Magoshi emphasized Japan’s dedication to gender equality and women’s empowerment both domestically and internationally, highlighting the importance of women’s leadership and participation in every aspect of peacebuilding and humanitarian response, and the need to reflect these priorities in WPS national action plans. The Ambassador also underlined that the importance of applying the concept of WPS in the context of disaster including disaster prevention and preparedness, based on the experiences of Japan, a country experiences many natural disasters.
The Ambassador reiterated Japan’s commitment to stand with Lebanon to strengthen women’s participation in all stages of peace and recovery, affirming their meaningful participation as central to just and lasting peace.
