The Government of Japan provided an in-kind assistance to Lebanon and its people through the UNHCR in response to the devastating conflict that has left a toll of destruction and displacement in its wake. Following the implementation of the ceasefire the humanitarian crisis on the ground remains dire, which prompted Japan to extend a grant to address the urgent relief needs of the affected communities.

Dr. Yassin extended his gratitude for the Japanese grant, as for Ms. Misic she emphasized the importance of this humanitarian aid during this critical phase.
Ambassador Magoshi said “As Japan welcomes the long-awaited ceasefire agreement, it also acknowledges that the disruptive repercussions of the hostilities will persist in the foreseeable future”, adding that “this initiative in collaboration with UNHCR, aims to address the relief needs of the affected Lebanese communities and alleviate the displacement burden. Japan recognizes the significant efforts required to support the sustainable recovery of Lebanon and will continue to provide its unwavering support to the country and its people during these challenge times.”
Commenting on the grant, Mr. MORIKAWA Toru, Director General, Secretariat of the HQs for the International Peace Cooperation, Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan said “Even after the announcement of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, the dire humanitarian situation continues, and the severe winter will soon come.
