Japan supports displaced families in Lebanon through UNHCR

On November 7, 2024 Ambassador Magoshi Masayuki received at the Embassy, the Representative of UNHCR in Lebanon Mr. Ivo Freijsen, following Japan’s provision of an emergency grant of USD 5 million to support Lebanon and its people through the agency.
In light of the dangerous escalation of hostilities across the country, Japan decided to extend this emergency grant to support the efforts of UNHCR in securing the basic needs of the displaced population, in terms of shelter assistance, relief interventions, and protection services. During the meeting Mr. Freijsen expressed his gratitude to the Government of Japan for its generous and continued support. For his part Ambassador Magoshi hoped that the allocated aid will help alleviate the burdens of the targeted communities.
