Japan contributes to UNICEF’s urgent response in Lebanon

On November 6, 2024 Ambassador Magoshi Masayuki received at the Embassy the Representative of UNICEF in Lebanon Mr. Edouard Beigbeder, ensuing the allocation of an emergency grant of USD 1 million for critical Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) support through UNICEF.
This assistance came as a direct response to the exacerbated humanitarian crisis in Lebanon amid the intensified conflict. Under this initiative, UNICEF aims to secure access to safe drinking water and provide essential hygiene items for thousands of vulnerable families. During the meeting Mr. Beigbeder expressed his deep appreciation to the Japanese Government for this timely support. From his side, Ambassador Magoshi reiterated Japan’s strong commitment to stand by Lebanon during these challenging times.
