Vacancy Announcement: Short-term Consultancy as Advisor, Economic and Economic Cooperation Section of the Embassy of Japan in Lebanon (national post)

The Embassy of Japan in Lebanon is currently looking for a qualified candidate who will work as an Advisor, Economic and Economic Cooperation Section. This is a short-term consultancy job as to cover the maternity leave of a permanent staff at the Embassy. This a great opportunity for those who have been working in the field of international development and humanitarian, particularly through research and analysis, programme management and inter-agency coordination.

Please note that this position is only for Lebanese nationals.

Job Description
To summarize key economic issues daily using the major newspaper and make daily and weekly report to the Embassy staff,
  • To research economic, development and other issues specified and requested by the Embassy staff, 
  • To assist contacting local authorities in regard to the economic relationship between Japan and Lebanon,
  • To support the coordination and arrangement with local and international partners in regard to Japan’s humanitarian and development assistance to Lebanon,
  • To assist organizing ceremonies (e.g. signing ceremonies for grant contracts, and inauguration ceremonies),
  • To prepare requested report to line Manager(s).
 
Qualification and Requirements
Academic Background:
  • ​A Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in a related field (e.g. International Relations, International Development Studies, Project Management)
Work Experience:
  • Three to five years of professional experience in related fields (humanitarian,  development, project management).
  • Progressively responsible experience in humanitarian/development-related project management and/or research and analysis
  • Worked with other Embassies, UN agencies, International organizations at development settings would be considered advantageous.
Languages and Tools:
  • Fluency in Arabic (Modern Standard Arabic) and English.
  • Capability to translate and interpret between the two languages.
  • Working knowledge of French would be an asset. 
  • Skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams).
