Message by Ambassador Magoshi in commemoration of the victims of the Beirut

The Beirut Port explosion exactly three years ago was a very sad and difficult moment for all of us. The horrible image of the mushroom cloud rising in the air reminded us of the tragedy in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which also happened in August 78 years ago.
On this day, the third anniversary of the explosion, I would like to express, on behalf of the Japanese people, my heartfelt sorrow and sincerest condolences to all the victims, and Japan stands in solidarity with the Lebanese people during these difficult times. We do understand the immense challenges they have faced and I would like, on this occasion, to reaffirm our commitments. In line with our commitments, Japan will continue to provide restoration assistance to Lebanon in collaboration with the international partners. I hope our assistance serves as a symbol of friendship between Lebanon and Japan.
I am confident that with the wisdom and fortitude of its people, Lebanon will overcome its current difficulties and rise again like a phoenix.
