The Embassy of Japan in Lebanon is currently looking for a qualified candidate who will work as an Independent Contractor for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots and Human Security Program (GGP: click here for more information). This is an ideal post for young professionals who wish to contribute in the field of international cooperation, particularly through assisting socially and economically vulnerable communities.

- Job Title: Independent Contractor for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots and Human Security Program
- Department/Office: Economic Cooperation Section, the Embassy of Japan in Lebanon
- Expected Start Date: Oct 2, 2023 (negotiable).
- Contract Duration: One-year fixed term appointment, with possibility of renewal up to a total of three years.
- Responsibilities:
General Tasks:
- To receive applications for the GGP and manage data related to applications,
- To technically review applications for the GGP,
- To facilitate the implementation of ongoing projects,
- To monitor past and ongoing projects,
- To contact and consult with GGP applicants and implementing organizations,
- To prepare requested report to line Manager(s)..
- To conduct preliminary field surveys,
- To conduct follow-up monitoring surveys in the field (e.g. progress monitoring, mid-term monitoring, and confirmation of completion of the projects,
- To assist organizing ceremonies (e.g. signing ceremonies for grant contracts, and inauguration ceremonies),
- To collect other information related to the GGP.
- Ideal Candidate Profile
- A Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in a related field (e.g. International Relations, International Development Studies, Project Management)
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in related fields fields (humanitarian aid, project management on small-scale, etc.).
- Progressively responsible experience in humanitarian/development-related project management and coordination with organizations of various sectors at development settings would be considered advantageous.
- Fluency in Arabic (Modern Standard Arabic) and English.
- Capability to translate and interpret between the two languages.
- Working knowledge of French would be an asset.
- Skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
