Japan supports smallholder farmers across Lebanon
2023/3/10
On March 8, Ambassador Magoshi visited the Baalbek district with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), upon the completion of a project funded through a grant from Japan. The project supported smallholder farmers affected by the compounded crises across Lebanon, through the provision of agricultural inputs to help them sustain their farming activities, and enhance their production capacity.
During the tour, Ambassador Magoshi discussed with beneficiaries the positive impact that the initiative had on their livelihoods and agriculture outputs. Japan believes that with the adequate strategies and commitment Lebanon’s agriculture sector could enhance the country’s food security and drive its economic growth, and it will therefore continue to collaborate with local and international partners to extend the necessary support.
