On December 16, Ambassador Magoshi participated in a tour of a project that is being implemented by the World Food Porgramme (WFP) under a $3.5M emergency grant from Japan. The project to distribute monthly food parcels to more than 300,000 Lebanese is part of Japan’s direct response to the deteriorating food security situation in Lebanon, amid serious global crises, in particular the Ukrainian crisis.
During the tour in Beirut, Ambassador Magoshi was briefed on the distribution mechanism of the in-kind assistance, and discussed the positive impact of this support with beneficiaries. Japan will continue to collaborate with local and international partners to help address Lebanon’s most urgent food security needs, and alleviate the burdens of the socio-economic hardships on the most vulnerable.
