On October 18, Ambassador Okubo visited a project in Akkar funded by Japan with the IFRC, Lebanese Red Cross, and Japanese Red Cross to support the urgent needs of Lebanon’s healthcare sector, as part of a larger Japanese contribution in response to the Covid19 pandemic and the Beirut Port explosion.

Through this assistance, Japan helped procure essential medication and medical supplies to vulnerable communities for the Lebanese Red Cross healthcare centers and mobile medical units. The grant also supported the emergency response services of the Red Cross across several regions. This initiative aimed as well to limit the spread of the Covid19 within the Palestinian camps in Lebanon by enhancing the capacities of the Palestine Red Crescent Society-Lebanon (PRCS-L) hospitals.
