Ambassador Okubo participated on April 19 in the inauguration of a project that helped equip the Baabda Governmental University Hospital and the Rafic Hariri University Hospital with solar panels systems through the UNOPS in the framework of a grant from Japan, in the presence of Public Health Minister H.E. Dr. Firass Abiad.
This initiative came as a direct response to the electricity crisis across the country which got exacerbated recently amid the spiraling financial situation and dwindling fuel supplies. The Japanese funded project aims to ensure the continuity of essential healthcare services during these critical times by providing a sustainable alternative to power outages and alleviating the burden of increasing electricity costs in the targeted hospitals.
