Ambassador participates in a field visit to Bekaa (WFP Project)

Ambassador Okubo participated on April 13, in a field visit to the Bekaa, where WFP has implemented a developmental project funded through a grant from Japan in Bar Elias, and which aimed at advancing the agricultural sector all-while improving the livelihoods of vulnerable populations. The initiative included the construction and rehabilitation of agricultural infrastructure in the area such as roads, irrigation and drainage canals to improve the management of water resources and reduce the risk of floods. The project involved the participation of workers from the local and host communities in the construction efforts and thus supported them in meeting their immediate food needs by providing them with income generation opportunities.
