Ambassador Okubo participated on March 23, in a tour of a Japanese-funded factory for the production and distribution of low-cost sanitary pads in Tripoli, which got established in the framework of a pioneer project implemented by UNWOMEN in collaboration with ACTED.

This project is helping manufacture sanitary pads with recyclable materials, and has created job opportunities for 120 women in Tripoli, and provided them with a sustainable source of income to empower women economically and alleviate their livelihood burdens, thus activating their role in local development, and enhancing Tripoli's stability. Japan is convinced that the stability of Tripoli is a prerequisite for the stability of Lebanon.
