Japan will extend 88,318 US dollars in grant to Baakleen Medical Center for improving its diagnostic and screening services by procuring medical equipment. On March 4, 2021, Ambassador OKUBO Takeshi signed a grant contract with Dr. Marwan Abou Ayyash, General Director of Baakleen Medical Center.

Baakleen Medical Center serves the communities in Chouf, Mount Lebanon as the only polyclinic in the district. Recognizing the center’s singular role in prodding healthcare infrastructure of the region for mitigating the severe impact generated by a series of crisis in Lebanon, Japan has decided to provide the Center with an exhaustive set of medical equipment—ophthalmology, ENT, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and surgeries. With this grant assistance, the center can expand its capacity to treat more than 10,000 patients with quality care annually.

At the signing ceremony, Dr. Marwan Abou Ayyash, General Director of Baakleen Medical Center, expressed his appreciation of the Japanese people’s generosity. On the other hand, Ambassador Okubo commended the Center for its tireless effort to improve the medical service and infrastructure as well and assured that Japan would continue to support Lebanon facing enormous difficulties on the ground.
