Japan will extend 89,900 US dollars in grant to Ghobeiry Healthcare Center to finance the project for enhancing its imaging and radiology services through procuring medical equipment. On March 4, 2021, Ambassador OKUBO Takeshi signed a grant contract with Mr. Maan Khalil, Mayor of the municipality of Ghobeiry.
Ghobeiry Healthcare Center provides its community members equally regardless of their nationalities with comprehensive and accessible medical care. Considering a pivotal role the Center plays in securing healthcare for the vulnerable populations, Japan has decided to reinforce the Center through equipping its radiology department with advanced medical equipment. With the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Program, the Center becomes capable of providing more than 5,400 patients annually with efficient, low-cost, and quality health care services in a safe, and timely manner.
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Maan Khalil appreciated the generous support the Japanese government has long extended to the people of Lebanon. On the other hand, Ambassador Okubo commended the municipality for its tireless effort in supporting the community members as well as Syrian refugees during these difficult times, and ensured that Japan would always stand side by side with Lebanon in the unprecedented crises as a friend in need.
