Embassy of Japan Held a Reception on the Occassion of the Birthday of His Majesity the Emperor of Japan

Embassy of Japan in Lebanon held a reception on the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan on February 19 2020. The reception marked the first birthday celebration of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito since his enthronement on May 1 2019, and the start of a new Japanese era called “Reiwa.”

The reception was attended by the Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Mr. Nassif Hitti, representing the President of the Lebanese Republic and the President of the Council of Ministers, and MP Yassin Jaber representing the Speaker of the National Assembly. In addition, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ghazi Wazni; the Minister of Information, Mrs. Manal Abdel-Samad; the Minister of Environment and Administrative Reforms, Mr. Damianos Kattar; and the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Ramzi Moucharafieh attended the national reception.

At the reception, Ms. HIRAI Fujiko, and Mr. Octavian Gheorghiu, from the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra, performed the national anthems of Lebanon and Japan, and traditional folk songs of Japan. The reception also served Japanese food and sake and had booth presentation of Japanese NGOs in Lebanon.

In his speech, Ambassador OKUBO Takeshi congratulated the formation of the government of Prime Minister Hassan Diab, and affirmed that Japan will maintain its support to Lebanon.
