Official visit to Lebanon by Mr. SUZUKI Keisuke, State Minister for Foreign Affairs

1. On December 20, Mr. SUZUKI Keisuke, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited Lebanon, first time in the last 3 years as a State Minister, and he paid courtesy calls on President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and exchanged views on various bilateral cooperation and the current situation in Lebanon.
2. In these meetings, regarding the current situation in Lebanon, Mr. Suzuki expressed his strong hope that Lebanese political leaders would promote dialogues based on Lebanese people’s voices, and would establish a new cabinet which can respond to Lebanese people’s expectation and confidence as soon as possible.
3. Japan believes that the peace and stability of Lebanon is of great significance for the Middle East as a whole, and therefore, Japan is committed to continuing its support for Lebanon.
