Japan Supports UNHCR with USD 3.5 Million for the implementation of projects across Lebanon

On May 10 2019, Mr. Matahiro Yamaguchi, Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, announced a USD 3.5 Million Japanese Grant to UNHCR during a ceremony organized at the Community Development Centre of Majdal Anjar in Bekaa, in the presence of UNHCR Lebanon Representative Ms. Mireille Girard and Mayor of Majdal Anjal, Mr. Said Yassin. The grant will facilitate the implementation of protection services, and social cohesion activities through community development centres. It will also help Lebanese and Syrian refugee children to pursue their education, and support the youth to access the job market through vocational training.
Japan has so far extended more than US$ 31.7 Million to UNHCR since 2012, to implement projects all over Lebanon, and help improve the living conditions of both locals and refugees.
