Japan Supports UNRWA with USD 6 Million for the implementation of projects across Lebanon

On 4 April 2019, Mr. Matahiro Yamaguchi, Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon attended a ceremony organized by UNRWA, at the Gefinor Rotana Hotel Beirut, to announce new Japanese grants to the agency, in the presence of the Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. Ashraf Dabbour, and the Director of UNRWA affairs in Lebanon Mr. Claudio Cordone. Japan provided UNRWA with USD 5.5 million to mitigate the impact of the Syrian crisis on Palestinian refugees in Lebanon through various projects. Japan has so far supported UNRWA with more than USD 38 million since 2013 to implement projects across Lebanon, with the aim of improving the livelihoods of the Palestinian refugees.
