Japan provides one million dollars to six organizations to support Lebanon
Wednesday, 27 January, 2016 - The Embassy of Japan concluded the signature of six Grant Contracts with six organizations; Blue Mission, Al Nadwah Cultural and Social Club, Islamic Association for Care and Development, Association for Forests, Development and Conversation, Armenian Relief Cross in Lebanon, and Mines Advisory Group.
The Embassy funds in total 1,087,000 USD for six projects; the extension of Blue mission community center in Saida, the provision of medical equipment for Al Nadwah Dispensary, Al Rahma medical center in Chebaa and the Armenian Relief Cross medical center, the provision of equipment for forest fire prevention and management in the Caza of Chouf, and supporting emergency minefield and battle area clearance.
At one of the signature ceremonies, His Excellency Mr. Seiichi Otsuka, Ambassador of Japan in Lebanon, stated “we deem it as duty of the international community that we share the burden of Lebanon caused by the challenging situations in the region.”
Three more additional grant signatures will take place by March with a grand total of 436,943 USD supporting as well mines clearance, health and education sectors.
Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) has so far extended more than 15 million US dollars in Lebanon since 1996 to finance more than 230 development projects implemented by NGOs, municipalities, schools and medical institutions.
