Japan assists the Child Welfare Association in Rashaya
(16 July 2009)
The Embassy of Japan announces that the Child Welfare Association in Rashaya has successfully completed a project for the installation of medical equipments, and started to use them.
The project, funded by the Government of Japan through its “Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Project (GGP)”, aims at improvement of the medical services in a remote area. The Embassy and the Association have signed the grant contract of US$84,950 on 1 February, 2005 for this aim.
Japan’s GGP supports development projects at grass-roots level proposed by such bodies as nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and local governmental authorities in Lebanon. Japan has so far extended through GGP more than US$ 9 million since 1996.
