Japanese ambassador inaugurates sewing equipments for Sidon Orphan Welfare Society


Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, Mr. Yoshihisa Kuroda, inaugurated on Tuesday 26 August, 2008, at the Sidon Orphan Welfare Society in Saida, a project that was financed by the government of Japan through its Grassroots Grants Program and implemented by the association.

The US$54,760-project was implemented in accordance with a contract signed by the Embassy of Japan and Sidon Orphan Welfare Society on January 15, 2007, and consisted of equipping the orphanage with sewing equipments.

Japan’s Grassroots Grants Program has so far extended more than US$ 8.3 Million since 1996 to finance development projects throughout Lebanon proposed and implemented by municipalities, NGOs, hospitals, private schools, research institutes, and other non-profit organizations.
