Japan will donate US$ 78,440 through its Grassroots Grants Program to the Municipality of Hammana. Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon Mr. Yoshihisa Kuroda and the President of the Municipality, Mr. Habib Rizk, signed a contract to this effect at the Embassy of Japan on Friday, February 29.
The grant aims at constructing a 750m3 reservoir in order to secure a better water supply to the town and solve water shortage problems.
Japan’s Grassroots Grants Program has so far extended more than US$ 7.8 Million since 1996 to finance development projects throughout Lebanon proposed and implemented by municipalities, NGOs, hospitals, private schools, research institutes, and other non-profit organizations.
