Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, Mr. Tokumitsu Murakami, inaugurated Friday, October 14, 2005, a project for providing an eye clinic and an ultrasound imaging system to the Lebanese Child Welfare Association's dispensary in Niha, Shouf.
The total cost of the project was US$ 40,650 that were extended by Japan to the association through its Grassroots Grants Program.The Grassroots Grant Program has so far extended approximately US$ 6.5 Million to Lebanon through the Japanese Embassy since 1996. It provides financial assistance to municipalities, NGOs, hospitals, private schools, research institutes, and other non-profit organizations to implement flexible and timely development projects at the grassroots level.
