Message from Mr. Yoshihisa Kuroda

I am happy to post this message to our website as the new Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon. I arrived in Beirut on November 28th, 2006. I must say that the view of your beautiful country from the airplane made me and my wife more eager to arrive.

Lebanon and Japan have been enjoying good relations for many years. We celebrated the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic ties in 2004. As the new Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, I would like to visit a lot of places and meet many people so as to maintain and strengthen this good relationship. I believe that the best way to achieve this goal is through mutual understanding and direct contact.

I am looking forward to enhancing our bilateral interaction, on the basis made by my predecessors. Fortunately the number of Japanese tourists to Lebanon has been increasing in recent years. At the same time, there are some Lebanese people who have been very active in various fields in Japan. I would like to create more opportunities to introduce the Japanese culture to the people of Lebanon as well as to introduce and share your culture with the people of Japan.

I would like to ask for your cooperation and wish you prosperity.

Best regards,

Yoshihisa Kuroda
Ambassador-designate of Japan
