Japan assists the Father Robertfs
Institute for Young Deaf
Japan supports
the Father Robertfs Institute for Young Deaf in rehabilitating the school
premises in Shaileh, Keserwan.
This support is aimed at securing a safer and healthier educational environment
for students. Established in 1959, the institute
provides specialized education for deaf children as well as support to academic
and professional integration projects.
Ambassador of Japan
to Lebanon
Mr. Koichi Kawakami and Sister Superior, Claude Nasr, signed the grant contract
of US$90,940 to this effect at the Embassy of Japan on 29 November 2011.
This is funded by gGrant Assistance for Grassroots
Human Security Project (GGP)h of Japan. Japanfs
GGP supports development projects at grass-roots level proposed by such
bodies as nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and local governmental
authorities in Lebanon. Japan has so far extended through
GGP more than US$ 10.2 million since 1996.
